Yrsa started doing leatherwork out of frustration. Which is not a good motivation for starting doing something
"She bought a kit to make her own shoes, but the size was wrong. The shoes were much too large! The guy who sold her the kit kept saying that the size was right and that Probably she might have done something wrong in putting them together. Her brother, Ulfljótr, who has 4 sizes more than Yrsa, has been wearing the pair of shoes for some years".
That is how I started to fumble with leather to see how far I would get and make my own shoes in the end. Marclef started to work at it as well and every now and then we manage to sell something at markets, in order not to pile up the results of experimentation in the house and be able to buy leather for the next project. Museums like Haithabu used to have a nice exposition of tools and reconstructed replica's of interesting shoe finds. In 2010 the exposition was renovated and de shoes have mostly disappeared.
